Early Childhood Special Education: Online Master's Degree
Master of education in special education with an emphasis in early childhood special education (M Ed)
This 30-hour master's program prepares you to provide services and supports to young children and their families. In the same way that you measure your child’s growth, you can begin charting your own growth as an educator. As we continue to understand the educational needs of young children, it is important to be well-rounded in our approach to educating them. This program can provide that balance. Just as educators in the field of young children with disabilities must be flexible in keeping up with changing approaches to teaching, our program is flexible in how and when you learn. Whether you want to advance or recharge your career, online courses can provide motivation with their convenient and collaborative learning environment. Make your next mark on that growth chart in this innovative online degree program.
In the early childhood special education area, students will gain increased knowledge and skills in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational services to children from birth through age 8, with a primary focus on infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The program addresses the essential problems of practice with special emphasis given to embedding effective intervention into daily routines and activities. Strategies will address young children with disabilities as well as children who are at risk for school failure: children who are English-language learners and children who have challenging behaviors.
The program is designed for early childhood special education teachers, early interventionists, early childhood practitioners, Head Start teachers, child-care center staff and others who work with children ages birth to 8 years.
