With the online bachelor’s in information systems and technology (BSIST), students will gain a firm understanding of how technology can enable businesses while training/preparing to become a manager of technology in their organization.
This online program provides technical knowledge in IT, including application development, business intelligence, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, data management, project management and systems analysis and design. Students have the opportunity to select IT electives to personalize and strengthen their knowledge on specific topics of interest within the technology field. Through complementary business courses, students will learn about business processes, costs and budgets associated with business technology infrastructure, resource management and communication skills. The curriculum is guided by an advisory board consisting of senior IT leaders and CIOs. Courses are taught by research-productive faculty in the IST department, the largest of its kind in Missouri.
This program is STEM designated — students are eligible for scholarships and job opportunities at government agencies.

Faculty spotlight
Dr. Khan is currently developing cybersecurity programs at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis and teaches data networking and information security. Dr. Khan has published in journals, such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology and more. He has also presented papers at national academic conferences, authored book chapters and produced practitioner oriented research and industry reports.
His research interests include offshoring of business services, innovation and entrepreneurship and management of information technology and information security in high-reliability environments.
Dr. Rottman has conducted research and spoken internationally on global sourcing, innovation diffusion and public-sector IT. He has conducted case studies in over 40 firms and has been engaged by Fortune 500 firms to analyze and improve their offshore strategies. He has published three books and over 25 articles and book chapters. He was the 2006 recipient of the Anheuser-Busch Excellence in Teaching award, and is on the editorial board of MIS Quarterly Executive.
