MU Self-Paced Platform Migration FAQ

Mizzou self-paced faculty/instructors, thank you for all the work you have done - and you continue to do - supporting MU students as they complete their self-paced classes.

As a reminder from our prior update, all self-paced classes at MU will be migrating from the MU Self-Paced Platform to One Canvas over the next two years. We will be sunsetting the Self-Paced Platform by October 1, 2023; Spring 2023 classes will be the last classes that can use the Self-Paced Platform. We wanted to provide an update for you, based on questions we have received so far:

  1. Survey: Please complete this survey for each of your self-paced classes to let us know when you would like to begin migrating your content to One Canvas, and what assistance you would like during the process. If you teach more than one self-paced class, please submit the survey once per class. If you would like to operate in a hybrid state during the migration period, please provide a comment on the survey to that effect.
  2. Textbooks: After you transition your class to One Canvas, the Bookstore will begin to contact you about textbook adoptions for the coming term, so that you can directly communicate with them about your textbook needs. If you need to purchase textbooks/desk copies for your self-paced class, please work with your Academic Unit’s fiscal offices to do so.
  3. Support: Missouri Online | Office of eLearning will continue to provide support for self-paced courses, including while on the Self-Paced Platform, during your transition to One Canvas, and after the migration to One Canvas. While your course remains on the Self-Paced Platform, we will continue to provide the services with which you are familiar, as faculty/instructors do not have the ability to make changes to the courses themselves due to the nature of the platform. Once the course is transitioned to One Canvas, faculty/instructors will be able to manage their content, course design, etc. directly without needing an intermediary; at that point, Missouri Online | Office of eLearning will provide the same support we provide for any course, regardless of modality, including instructional/media design and academic technology support, at the request of the faculty/instructor.

Please contact us at KeepLearning@umsystem.edu if you have any questions or concerns. You are also welcome to refer to our Self-Paced Migration FAQ page for additional information about the migration process.
