The University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Business Administration is now accepting applications for a bachelor’s (BSIST) and master’s (MSIST) in information systems and technology. These AACSB-accredited programs are 100% online; a flexible experience for students with full-time jobs or other responsibilities.

The programs’ curriculum is guided by an advisory board consisting of senior IT leaders and CIOs. Courses are taught by research-productive faculty in the IST department, the largest of its kind in Missouri, and prepare students to further their careers — the College of Business Administration recently hosted two IST-focused job fairs resulting in 100% placement within six months.

The BSIST and MSIST provide technical knowledge in IT, including application development, business intelligence, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, data management, project management and systems analysis and design.

BSIST

With the online bachelor’s in information systems and technology, students will gain a firm understanding of how technology can enable businesses while training/preparing to become a manager of technology in their organization.

This online program provides technical knowledge in IT — students have the opportunity to select IT electives to personalize and strengthen their knowledge on specific topics of interest within the technology field. Through complementary business courses, students will learn about business processes, costs and budgets associated with business technology infrastructure, resource management and communication skills.

Graduates will be prepared to apply IT and business knowledge to understand the technology landscape, help organizations streamline their business processes with the aid of technology and enable the alignment of IT plans with business plans — which can drive competitive advantage.

MSIST

The online master’s in information systems and technology from UMSL is an extremely flexible and stackable certificate program that does not require prior knowledge of technology. Graduates will gain a deep understanding of IT — preparing them to help their organizations leverage technology for business advantage.

The ideal MSIST student can come from virtually any field (from HR to education to law), with an understanding that technology can complement their current job or the job they are seeking. The program also benefits someone working in IT who wants a deeper understanding of business technology systems.

Online MSIST students will benefit from learning with fellow students and faculty from varied technical backgrounds, with different perspectives on how technology can impact their work. Graduates who are interested in management, as well as application of information technology, will also benefit and learn to solve organizational problems.

Certification preparation

With the online BSIST and MSIST, students can take what they learn and apply it directly to their daily work, or prepare to take a certification. The courses in these programs cover content relevant to the following certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)®
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
