Courses for this program are 100% online: no campus visits are required. Courses are asynchronous, meaning they do not have regular meetings but students progress through the course with specifically timed content delivery and instruction. They may consist of various media and content — including online discussions, videos, quizzes and instructor engagement. Courses are not self-paced and students must make continual progress throughout the semester.
- Students join the university as “pre-social work students” and apply to the professional social work program upon completing prerequisites. Learn more about this process.
- Please note: Pre-social work majors are not guaranteed acceptance into the professional BSW program. You must submit an application for admission to the professional BSW program when you are eligible.
Practicum
A 400-hour practicum is required to be completed in the last semester of your program in a service-oriented work position. You’ll have the option of an employment-based practicum or placement in an agency setting reflective of your interests. You’ll work with an advisor to plan for practicum completion. Students employed in a human or social services based organization may be able to complete these hours at their place of employment.
