How to apply

Fulfill the admission requirements:

  • Completed baccalaureate or advanced degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate education.
  • If English is not your native language, please submit a TOEFL score of at least 92 (internet-based test), an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of at least 62 or a Cambridge C1 Advanced score of at least 185.
  • GRE scores are not required.

Application dates

The program reviews complete applications shortly after they're received by the department, year-round. Applications not completed for faculty review until after these deadlines may be considered for entry in the following semester.
Note: We recommend you submit your application at least six weeks before the beginning of the term in which you wish to start your course work. Due to course demand, late applicants who are accepted may have fewer course options.

Gather your papers

Applying will be easier and faster if you gather these required documents beforehand:

  • Transcripts of all previous college or university education. Upload unofficial transcripts in your online application. If you are accepted by the department and program, the Graduate School will require official transcripts as you complete the admissions process.
  • Resume.
  • Personal statement. The personal statement should be 1-2 pages (approx. 250-500 words) in length. The personal statement should reflect your own thoughts and demonstrate your means of expression. Excluding cases of accommodation for disability, the personal statement should be composed by you without artificial or other assistance.

    The content of the personal statement should:

    • Make clear connections between the positive coaching and athletic Leadership program and the applicant’s personal and/or career goals.
    • Address any areas of the application drawing special notice (i.e., past previous academic performance, significant life experiences, impactful career success or change, extended time since last enrollment, etc.

    The content of the personal statement may also:

    • Include information important to the applicant’s candidacy that is not solicited by other application questions or requirements.
    • Provide further development of elements mentioned in the vitae/resume that are applicable to the program.
  • TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or C1 Advanced score reports for applicants whose native language is not English. For information on sending test scores, visit the Grad School website.
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation. In the online application, you will need to supply names and contact details of three people who can attest to your professional competence, academic preparation and potential for graduate work. The Graduate School will contact your references with instructions regarding the letters.
    • If you have received an undergraduate or graduate degree in the last ten years you must include at least one reference for an instructor of an undergraduate or graduate course you successfully completed, who can address your academic performance and capacity for success in a graduate program. Your remaining two required letters may also be from academic sources, or you may supply the name and contact details of individuals like employers, principals (if you are a teacher/coach), athletic directors, community leaders, or other credible references who know you and who can attest to your professional competence, academic preparation and potential for graduate work.
