How to apply

Fulfill the admission requirements:

  • Completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of undergraduate education.
  • If English is not your native language, please submit a TOEFL score of at least 92 (internet-based test), an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of at least 62 or a Cambridge C1 Advanced score of at least 185.
  • GRE scores are not required.

Application dates

This program accepts rolling admissions, so you can apply at any time. We recommend you submit your application six weeks before the beginning of the term in which you wish to start your course work.

Gather your papers

Applying will be easier and faster if you gather these required documents beforehand.

  • Transcripts of all previous college or university education. Upload unofficial transcripts in your online application.If you are accepted by the department and program, the Graduate School will require official transcripts as you complete the admissions process.
  • Résumé or CV.
  • Personal statement (two pages/ approximately 500 words). The personal statement should reflect your own thoughts and demonstrate your means of expression. Excluding cases of accommodation for disability, the personal statement should be composed by you without artificial or other assistance.
    • Your personal statement should respond to the following prompt:
    • Please describe how this program will benefit your career aspirations and help you act upon your personal beliefs, goals and philosophy.
  • Two letters of recommendation. In the online application, you will need to supply names and contact details of university faculty members, employment-related professionals, etc. who can attest to your intellectual, experiential and interpersonal abilities. The Graduate School will contact your references with instructions regarding the letters.
    • Reviewers appreciate insights regarding your academic performance a former instructor might provide. If you have received an undergraduate or graduate degree in the last ten years, your application may be strengthened by including at least one letter of recommendation from the instructor of an undergraduate or graduate course you successfully completed, assessing your academic performance and capacity for success in a graduate program.
    • Your remaining letter may also be from academic sources, or you may supply the name and contact details of individuals like employers, principals (if you are a teacher), direct supervisors, research colleagues, community leaders, or other credible references who know you and who can attest to your professional competence, academic preparation and potential for graduate work.
  • TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or C1 Advanced score reports for applicants whose native language is not English. For information on sending test scores, visit the Grad School website.
