PawPrint and MU Email
A PawPrint is the ID needed to access most MU technology resources. All MU faculty, staff and students are provided with a PawPrint. A PawPrint consists of a student's initials and three random characters to ensure security. Your PawPrint combined with a password you create will allow you to access your online course sites and many other resources.
New students will receive a PawPrint/single sign-on (SSO) and temporary password in an admission letter. It generally takes up to 48 hours for the MU system to generate a PawPrint account after you are admitted.
- Nondegree and post-baccalaureate students admitted through Mizzou Online will receive an admission letter via email.
- Degree-seeking undergraduate students will receive their admission letter via email from the MU Admissions office. Graduate students receive their information via email from the Graduate School.

Accessing your MU email/Webmail
Once your PawPrint is activated, you can access your MU email from anywhere with an Internet connection. A security certificate must be downloaded from the Webmail site the first time you log in on any computer.
Important All University-related information and announcements will be sent only to MU email accounts so please be sure to check your MU email account regularly. Note: MU email accounts are created for University credit students only.
