Robert Cote, PhD

Robert Cote is an accomplished leader with 25 years of experience in multiple industries in various management and leadership roles. Dr. Cote’s experience is in driving team commitment, encouraging creativity and innovation that inspires a positive and productive culture. He is a transparent leader who utilizes an open and honest communication process to facilitate clear expectations. Throughout his career, he has been regarded as an inspiring leader who adapts readily to change, while motivating and empowering individuals to succeed. 

Dr. Cote is published in several respected journals. His research interests include adaptive leadership, dark side leadership, task and relationship-oriented leadership behaviors, situational leadership and transactional/transformational leadership.

Heather Robinson Coburn

Heather Robinson Coburn has been a member of the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) since June 2019 when she started as an academic advisor in UMSL|NOW. She earned her master’s of education in guidance and counseling from Lincoln University in Missouri. She has worked in higher education for 10 years and has a passion for helping students succeed and reach their greatest potential. She looks forward to working with College of Arts and Sciences students and assisting them in achieving the ultimate goal of graduation.

Sylvia Harris

Sylvia Harris started her journey at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) as a student and went on to become a member of the professional staff. She earned a master’s in teaching and a master’s in higher education administration from UMSL. While completing her master's at UMSL, she had the opportunity to work as a financial aid advisor in the Office of Student Financial Aid. After graduating in December 2012, she became an academic advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences. She advises communication and interdisciplinary studies. She loves working at UMSL but most importantly working with students as they navigate through their college careers.

James Craig

Before joining the sociology faculty, Jim Craig established the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) Student Veterans Center and founded UMSL’s innovative veterans studies program, helping UMSL garner national recognition as both “Best for Vets” and “Military Friendly.” He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Veterans Studies and the executive board of the Veterans Studies Association. His 2015 paper, “Bounding Veterans Studies,” has been widely recognized as a foundational document used to establish veterans studies programs at colleges around the country. Prior to his academic career, Jim served for 25 years as a soldier, cadet and officer in the U.S. Army. He left the Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He earned a master of military arts and sciences in the Army and a master of public administration from Harvard University. His research interests include the history and evolution of veteran support programs in America, military culture and professionalism, and veteran literature from post-9/11 wars.
